RESEARCH STUDY ON CHILD ABUSE INTERVENTIONS
HAVE YOU ATTEMPTED TO STOP SOMEONE
WHO
WAS ABUSING A CHILD?
If so, you are invited to participate in a study of child abuse
intervention.
Interested?
Participation is simple: You would fill out a brief questionnaire and
participate in a taped interview that will last from 30 minutes to 2 hours
in length. Your identity will not be tied to the interview, the
transcripts, or the demographic data in any way that can identify you in the
data or the finished research study.
You can receive a summary of the results if you wish.
Details about Participating in the Study
Thank you for your interest in this study of child abuse intervention by
witnesses. You can make a vital contribution to this research about physical
child abuse and what kinds of immediate interventions are effective. To
participate, at a time and place of your choosing you will be interviewed
and the interview will be taped for transcription later. Participation takes
about one to two hours and your identity is kept private and separate from
the interview materials. You would not put your name on the demographic
questionnaire.
In order to participate, the following two things should be true for you:
- You should be at least 21 years old and speak either English or
Spanish..
- You should have previously witnessed an incident of
child abuse in which you made an attempt to intervene.
Child abuse includes any incident between a caretaking adult and a child
or children in which the adult threatened or delivered a non-accidental
injury that resulted in the child being bruised, cut, burned, lacerated,
receiving a head injury or broken bone.
