Worth Defending offers Self Defense and Empowerment programs for women, teens, and gay men. We are affiliated with the international children's program, KidPower, and a number of independent but loosely affiliated businesses that offer the same or similar programs across North America, Europe, and the South Pacific.

Violence against women, gay and lesbian, children, and ethnic people has reached epidemic proportions on our planet. Yet, no person at risk is given training as part of their normal learning experience which could help to save their own life and limb.

The specialized course, generically known as "model mugging", has been developed and enhanced over twenty years in teaching full-force self defense courses to women. In recent years, men's courses have been developed. Specialized training for children is available from KidPower.

The Worth Defending Basics' course is roughly 25 hours taught in about five sessions. Students learn a knock-out defense against a single unarmed assailant, by practicing easy-to-learn techniques full force against one of the instructors who portrays a padded mock assailant in realistic fighting scenarios. Students are encouraged and taught by a team of professional instructors in an emotionally and physically safe environment, with an emphasis on channeling feelings into power.

Graduates of the basic course may decide to enroll in upper level training courses to learn about defending against multiple or armed assailants.
